Jazz, Blues, Pop, Classical Crossover and more! Hear internationally acclaimed musicians at the Dubrovnik International Wine & Jazz Festival. The 2012 Festival features the 2-time Grammy winning jazz singer/pianist Diane Schuur! Recognized around the world as “The Reigning Queen of Jazz”, Diane Schuur has entertained audiences for more than 30 years with her voice and charismatic style. The Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra under the director of USA conductor Michael Kissinger will join Diane in concert with arrangements of classic jazz standards such as “Unforgettable”, “The Very Thought of You”, “Round Midnight”, “The Man I Love” and others. ALSO on the 2012 Festival is the Duke Ellington School of the Arts Jazz Ensemble! The Duke Ellington School (Washington, DC) is one of the most prestigious performing arts schools in the United States – and these young artists are the “up-and-coming” jazz musicians of the future. Under the director of Music Director and Saxophonist Davey Yarborough, this band will amaze you with their musical talent.
Jazz is an international music! And Dubrovnik is home to elegant outdoor and historic concert venues. Evening Jazz Festival concerts will take place in the historic Old City in the historic Rector’s Palace (Knež dvor). Located in the heart of the Old City, this beautiful space is the perfect venue to hear world-class music. Daily concerts will also take place in front of the historic St. Blaise Church, in Luza Square (Luža Trg sv Vlaha) on the Main Stradun.
